Licensed Clinical Mental Health & Addictions Therapist
I am Dr. Shamanda Burston, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist based in North Carolina. I specialize in helping high-achieving women navigate burnout, anxiety, financial stress, and major life transitions.
My work integrates trauma-informed therapy, financial psychology, and emotional wellness to support women who appear successful outwardly but feel overwhelmed internally. I focus on helping clients understand the deeper patterns behind perfectionism, over-responsibility, and the emotional relationship with money and success.
In addition to my clinical work, I am a university professor, published author, and advocate for mental health awareness. I also serve as an executive producer and screenwriter for Cinematherapy films that explore themes of trauma, healing, and burnout.
My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and insight-oriented. I aim to create a space where clients can step away from the pressure to perform, explore their experiences honestly, and move toward sustainable well-being and clarity.
I know what it costs to hold everything together while your body keeps the score. Leaving corporate life, navigating Crohn's Disease, and building a business taught me exactly how stress, money pressure, and invisible responsibility collide. That lived experience shapes how gently and honestly I sit with you.
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, and PhD-level counselor educator who trains future therapists. I also serve as a clinical supervisor, university professor, author, and media-based mental health advocate. Clients receive premium, research-informed care grounded in real-world understanding.
My work sits at the intersection of mental health, money, and story. I integrate financial therapy, nervous system awareness, and Cinematherapy, using film and narrative to help high-achieving women see their patterns with compassion. Every session honors cultural context, trauma history, ambition, and your need for sustainable change.
